Barbie Crochet Victorian Era Beaded Dress

Magnificently detailed, this crocheted cream colored Barbie dress personifies the beauty and grace of the Victorian Era. Included are the Barbie doll, the gown, jacket, hat, pearl necklace, parasol and the stand.

The sleeveless dress flows to a sweeping hemline of tiny, pearl encrusted pleats. A sumptuous layer of real cream lace forms the overskirt. The same lace is repeated in a frilly jabot caught up at the throat. A V-shaped satin sash encircles the waist, ending in a sweet little bow at the back. Pearls and a rose adorn the high Victorian collar. A tiny row of little pearl buttons and buttonhole loops that really work, close the back.

A stylish late Victorian Era, bolero-style jacket is worn over the dress. Made of matching pearl studded pleats with wide bell shaped sleeves, the jacket is a wonderfully detailed miniature reproduction. Over the elbow, lace gloves complete the look.

The doll's hair is swept up at the front in a popular Gibson Girl manner and flows down the back in a be-ribboned twist.

The grand Victorian hat is made of matching crochet lace scallops. A border of lace scallops is draped over the pearl edged rim. A thick frou of fluffy feathers embellishes the crown, complete with a fancy cream satin bow.

In her hand, she carries an elegant parasol of matching scalloped lace and pearl studded pleats.

This outfit took about two weeks to make and involves thousands of stitches. Over 1000 pearls were crocheted, one-by-one, into the dress, jacket, hat and parasol.
